1. Start the Day With a Hardy Breakfast
To start the day off right, break your fast with breakfast. You know… something other than cereal!
Simple Sausage, Eggs and Toast may be just the right way to start the day. Or fuel up your morning with a skillet loaded with all of your breakfast favorites such as fried potatoes, onions, peppers, sausage, and shredded cheese cooked within a scrambled egg base.
If you would rather start the morning out on the sweeter side, try some Texas-sized french toast, homemade pancakes topped with sliced strawberries and whipped cream, or some freshly baked cinnamon rolls.
2. Get the Blood Pumping with an Outdoor Excursion
There’s nothing quite like getting outside for some winter fun on Valentine’s Day. Not only will it help put you in a great mood, getting outdoors clears the mind, reduces stress, improves communication, and increases libido.
If you already have the equipment (or know where you can borrow some), try any of these winter activities: Snow Shoeing, Skiing, Ice Fishing, or Snowmobiling.
For outdoor activities on a budget, try going on a Nature Hike. Bring your camera to capture wintery landscapes, critters, non-migratory birds and nature settings. Also, don’t forget to bring your smartphone along and take some selfies along the way.
3. Plan an Afternoon Beverage Tasting
After an outdoor excursion, try warming up with some wine or fancy, non-alcoholic potions!
With a wide variety of personal-sized wine bottles available these days, you won’t have to worry about wasting a whole bottle wine. Get a variety of wines you haven’t yet tasted to make it a tastebud adventure.
Follow wine tasting guidelines by starting out with a sweet, dessert wine like ice wine or luscious blueberry. Move on to a semi-sweet white like white-zinfandel or Pinot Grigio. Finish up the tasting with a dry white like Chardonnay, and then a dry red such as Pinot Noir or Merlot. Don’t forget to take a bite of cheese and crackers to cleanse your palette in between tastes.
4. Plan a Fancy Dinner
Plan on making your entire, dinnertime meal an experience to remember by building the ambiance first. Scatter a white tablecloth with red and pink paper hearts before setting the table with your finest tableware and finishing it off with lit candles.
Next, decide if your meal will be a simple affair, or an elaborate feast by determining how much time you wish to spend preparing. Here are some unforgettable meal ideas in which to feast on this special occasion.
For a fancy spread without too much fuss, create a custom-made Charcuterie Board with all of your favorite finger foods. From fruit and vegetable slices, to nuts and seeds, and cold cuts and cheeses to crackers and spreads… make this unique Valentines assortment for a fun food diversion this February 14th that you can enjoy all afternoon and evening.
Looking for simple and SPICY, then look no further! Try a dish that nobody can resist… a huge platter of Nachos. Whether you stack up the layers on a fancy platter or spread it out thin on a cooking pan, spice up the evening with another, finger-food favorite that’s perfect for sharing or enjoying solo. Top your favorite chips with spicy beef and black beans, sprinkled cheddar and a drizzle of hot, cheesy topping. Don’t forget the veggies… add chopped lettuce, tomato, scallions, black olives, jalapenos, guacamole and sour cream!
If you’re looking for an extravagant dinner at home, purchase the center-cut of a beef tenderloin at the local butcher shop and make Châteaubriand this Valentine’s Day. Enjoy each mouth-watering bite of juicy steak slices topped off with a wine reduction sauce that will make your toes curl in delight. Pair with your favorite, fresh vegetable, a slice of crusty bread, and an elegant glass of wine for an unforgettable Valentine’s meal.
